Marmite is a natural food product with a wide application in the kitchen.
It is ideal for spreading sandwiches, toasts, as an addition to soups, sauces, meats. It also applies as an ingredient in meat marinades.
Marmite has a paste consistency, a brown color, an intense aroma and a taste similar to maggi and soy sauce.
The characteristic taste and aroma correspond to additives, such as extracts of various plants (vegetables and herbs), eg from celery, malt vinegar and malt sugars present in yeast. Marmite does not contain fat or white sugar, which is the basis of a vegetarian cuisine.
A portion of Marmite paste (4 grams) contains 0.6 micrograms of cyanocobalamin (15 micrograms / 100 g), so it is a rich source of this vitamin, which can cover about 60% of the daily requirement, depending on age and sex, 2.5-5 micrograms .
