The name stroopwafel accurately reflects the composition of this golden delicacy, because Stroop means syrup in Dutch, and the waffle is, without any surprises, just a waffle, specifically two incredibly sweet, round thick wafers glued together with an even sweeter traditional dark caramel syrup with the addition of cinnamon .
